Meet The Family
Mr
& Mrs Jones and Family
I was reading the part
of the budget again concerning the increase in fuel duty.
You may remember I did predict that as the world came out
of recession the price of fuel would start to rise again.
Although the oil companies increase the price of fuel more
than the government increase the tax, we all pay the price
in increased delivery costs, and of course when the duty is
increased, or the oil companies put the price up, the private
motorist also has to pay the increased VAT as well.
As part of a promotional email campaign 8 Years ago, I wrote
several articles ‘The Average UK Family’ which
charted a hypothetical day in the life of an average family,
and how RFT Express with the contracts and deliveries we were
making at the time, contributed to their standard of living.
Sadly a lot of the companies we were delivering for have fallen
by the wayside during the recession.
What the article does show is that everything you own, use,
wear or eat has been transported by road, by several vehicles.
The house you live in came by road, your place of work, every
piece of equipment, every machine, was transported by road.
I have reproduced one of the articles, I know several important
decision makers in government read the blog, this could be
a gently reminder of how increased fuel duty impacts on everyone.
Meet
the Jones Family
A typical day in the life of Mr. and
Mrs. Jones and their two children starts early with
breakfast cooked on their new cooker delivered by RFT Express.
While this is being cooked Mrs Jones, fills her new washing
machine and sets it going, this was also delivered by RFT.
Meanwhile Mr. Jones skips breakfast: he has a breakfast appointment
with a client, and he leaves home in his company car. RFT
are responsible for the cloth trim being delivered to the
manufacturer, and the seat padding being delivered to the
subcontractor who manufactures the seats for his car. He is
hoping to impress his client and wears his new designer suit
which RFT delivered to the retail outlet.
Mrs Jones is preparing to take the children
to school on her way to work. Virtually everything
in the school, apart from furniture and food, has probably
been delivered by RFT. After dropping the children off at
school, Mrs Jones takes her car in for a routine service,
and new tyres. The tyres were delivered to the garage by RFT.
Mrs Jones works in a very large office which is divided into
separate workstations with the latest screen dividers delivered
by RFT.
After work Mrs Jones collects her car and the children from
school, there is an air of excitement as tomorrow the family
are going on holiday in their caravan. RFT delivered the flooring
and the decorative panelling to the caravan manufacturer.
They call at the local supermarket on the way home, all those
signs which are hung above the aisles advertising the latest
offers, have just been replaced after a delivery from RFT.
Mr. and Mrs Jones are going out
for a meal tonight and the children are eager to show off
their new Home Cinema System to the babysitter, this too was
delivered by RFT. Mrs Jones wears her new designer dress,
which of course was delivered by RFT. Over dinner Mr. Jones
tells his wife his breakfast appointment with his client,
resulted in him gaining the contract to service and supply
all the pumping equipment used by a large manufacturer. Virtually
every machine involved in production has a pump or extractor
attached to it, either to discharge coolant, dust or waste
by- products, RFT deliver replacement pumps when a pump is
due for overhaul, and then redeliver the pump once it has
been overhauled. Manufacturers don’t let machines stand
idle for routine overhauls.
After discussing their days work the Jones comment on how
enjoyable the meal and wine was. RFT most probably delivered
the wine.
The above is only small snapshot into how RFT Express
helps to improve the quality of life, through our professional
delivery service.
