Fair Government, Creating
Trust in MPs ?
The Lib Dems
have applied for public money
allocated to the opposition parties for research.
In a Newsnight interview they claimed
it was in the public interest. This is what they call
Fair Government,
and is inline with the
principals of the Governments’ intent to promote confidence
in the Electorate following the Expenses
Scandal. It is also
compatible with the Coalition pledge to cut Government spending.
Well that’s Fair, isn’t
it?
The Conservatives are going ahead with
their schools for the people, by the people. The idea behind
this is that a group of like minded parents set up their own
schools, because the ones we have now are not good enough
for them. Funding will
come from....well the general public. These
schools will be purpose built, with public money,[ £30
million per school], have the best teachers, and of course
be run by the group of parents, with the help of a preferred
professional organisation. The Governments preferred partner
is Serco, who incidentally have just been relieved of this
responsibility in Bradford.
They will be the new Private schools, the only difference
being that parents won’t have to pay for these better
Private schools, the general public will. Of course the selection
process will be more strict, probably dictated by income and,
or, race. Well that’s
Fair, isn’t it?
Gary Gibbons reports,
Guess who was one of the first visitors
into Downing Street, up the back stairs into No. 10 yesterday?
[18/05/10] Rupert Murdoch. He’s never been a huge fan
of Lib Dems so may have been seeking reassurance. In one of
his TV interviews in the campaign,
Adam Boulton of Sky asked whether
David Cameron would resist the power of Murdoch if he got
to No 10.
He said “of course” if my memory serves
This has started the speculation that
the BBC could be sold off, or gagged. They didn’t contribute
to Tory funds, they provide unbiased reporting. Fair
Government?
David Cameron has made a move on the
1922 committee, [They are the backbench voice and bain of
past Tory PM’s lives at certain points] in order to
render the committee ineffective, he is proposing His Ministers
should be part of the committee. Ministers currently only
attend by invitation and often to be pilloried or lobbied.
One MP said: “Welcome to Albania.”
In the name of
Fair Government the Coalition has
acknowledge the power of their rich backers, and revoked the
proposed increase on employers National Insurance contributions,
But to make it Fair Government
they have increased the contributions
paid by employees.
Snowblog
:- David Cameron has won what
one Tory backbencher called his “North Korean”-style
coup on the
1922 Committee.It’s a bit
like management demanding seats on the trade union negotiating
team and then saying there will be a company-wide ballot to
give it the go-ahead when management have one third of the
votes and five of them at one point last night were sitting
in the polling booth. Fair
Government?
